The Prince and the Skibob (Henry Wuga)
Once upon a time (1982 to be exact) while opening a sports centre in the North East, Prince Charles sat astride a SKIBOB ready to try out this amazing invention. Properly attired in suit, tie and town shoes but WITHOUT FOOT SKIS. He did however wear gloves. HRH slid down the artificial ski slope without coming a cropper. Well done.
n meeting Prince Charles in Klosters a few years later, he asked me "What is that you are sitting on?" "A SKIBOB, Sir" was my reply." I have never seen one before". Plucking up all my courage and without committing lese-majeste, I ventured to say " I beg to differ, Sir, I posses a picture of you sitting on a SKIBOB" " Oh" The photo was duly dispatched to the Palace and was kindly acknowledged.
All the evidence is on the SKIBOB website, just click on gallery to see the picture. Should we make the Prince an honorary SA6B member? Prince Charles also asked me where I came from. " From Glasgow, Sir” I replied "And where did you come from before Glasgow?" was his repartee. After 63 years of residence in Scotland, I still have not acquired a proper Scottish accent.
Best wishes to you ALL and have a good winter. To make tracks in virgin powder should be your aim.
Henry Wuga
